Switzerland Rejoins European Education & Research Programs

  • Jun 12, 2025

Switzerland is set to regain access to flagship EU programs—including Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, Euratom, and ITER—thanks to the new EU–Switzerland Programmes Agreement (EUPA), initialed on April 2, 2025. Starting this year, Swiss researchers and students can once again submit proposals to Horizon Europe and Digital Europe. Full participation in Erasmus+ and ITER is anticipated by 2026–2027, pending ratification as part of a broader Switzerland–EU package.

This renewed access restores legal certainty and reopens pathways for cross-border collaboration in research, education, and innovation, marking a pivotal step for Switzerland's place in the European academic ecosystem
