Switzerland Expands Multilingual Education Strategy to Strengthen Integration

Basel, June 2025 — As part of its national integration policy, Switzerland has expanded its multilingual education strategy to include greater support for non-native speakers and international students. Public institutions will now offer more foundational courses in German, French, and Italian, with a focus on academic language proficiency and intercultural communication.

Newly arrived students will benefit from transition programs designed to ease integration into the Swiss academic system and improve classroom engagement. The initiative also includes teacher training programs to better accommodate multilingual classrooms and reduce language-based educational gaps.

By promoting inclusive education in a linguistically diverse environment, Switzerland aims to enhance social cohesion and educational equity across all regions.
