Swiss Education Council Approves Hybrid Learning Standards for Post-2025 Curriculum

St. Gallen, June 2025 — The Swiss Education Council has formally approved a new set of hybrid learning standards designed to govern post-2025 curricula across the country’s higher education institutions. These standards establish quality benchmarks for programs delivered partially online and partially on-site, ensuring that learners receive an equivalent academic experience regardless of format.

Institutions will now be required to adopt guidelines on digital assessments, student support services, and online-teacher interaction ratios. The reform is seen as a step toward long-term digital readiness and educational resilience, following the lessons learned during the global shift to online learning in previous years.

The hybrid model is especially beneficial for international and working students, allowing them to study flexibly without compromising the Swiss quality standard.
